As a first step in the process of implementing an Outreach Program, we organized a roundtable at the University of Miami Coral Gables Campus on February 28th, 2003 with the following objectives:
- Determine in what areas support is most needed.
- Facilitate contact and networking among K-12 teachers and between them and our Department.
- Determine the best manner of establishing and maintaining effective communication between the Department and K-12 teachers.
Pursuant to the first recommendation generated at the round table, U-MDPSOP hosted a workshop on May, 29th 2003, on how to use Blackboard, since this web based software will be used as the principal means of communication and data sharing among participants in the Program. In accordance to the second recommendation, we are submitting to all potential participants an electronic survey designed to determine the interest of all participants.
