We accept applications for Fall admission only, and only for doctoral study (we do not have an independent Master’s program). You may apply for the Ph.D. while holding either a B.A. or an M.A. degree.

The deadline to apply for the 2019-20 academic year is January 1, 2019

Your completed application must include the following (incomplete applications will not be considered):

  1. A completed application, including a detailed statement of purpose.  We only accept on-line applications.  Apply on-line here.

  2. Three substantial letters of recommendation.

  3. GRE scores (please use Institution code 5815 and Department Code 2699)

  4. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended.

  5. A substantial writing sample in English.

  6. Writing samples in the primary language(s) of study (French, Portuguese, and/or Spanish).

  7. For International students only: TOEFL scores (please use Institution code 5815 and Department code 2699).

  8. Application fee of $85.00
